Elderly man rescued from fishing vessel west of Point Loma

On Thursday, an older man experiencing a medical emergency was rescued from a fishing vessel west of Point Loma. The San Diego Sector of the U.SU.S.ast Guard (USCG) received a distress call around 1 p.m. reporting that a 79-year-old man aboard the boat named "Legend" had lost consciousness and was showing signs of a heart attack.

The USCG Air Station San Diego promptly dispatched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to assist the distressed passenger. The helicopter team arrived swiftly at the scene. They lifted the patient from the fishing vessel and transported him to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. As of now, his current condition remains unknown.

In a separate incident, a man was stabbed five times in the back outside a Walmart store. The USCG's San Diego Sector emphasized its ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all mariners facing distressing situations.
