Two boaters were successfully rescued early Friday morning off the coast of Homestead after their vessel overturned, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR).

The incident occurred around 3:40 a.m., when MDFR received an emergency call reporting a capsized boat with individuals onboard approximately three miles east of Homestead's Bayfront Park, located at 9698 SW 328th St.

An air-rescue helicopter crew was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, rescuers located the stranded boaters clinging to their small overturned vessel.

Using a hoist basket, an air-rescue crew member was lowered into the water to secure both individuals safely. The boaters were then lifted into the helicopter and transported back to the Herbert Hoover Marina at Bayfront Park.

Fortunately, neither of the boaters was injured during the incident. Authorities have not released further details about the cause of the vessel's overturning.
